Injunction Prevents Resident Entering Estate

Threats to staff and the community will not be tolerated

East Durham Homes (EDH) has taken further action against a local resident Graham Taylor following his threatening behaviour to residents and East Durham Home’s staff.

Mr Taylor, 19 years old, was living in the Bruce Glasier Terrace area of Shotton when East Durham Homes were made aware of his threatening and violent behaviour which included threats to EDH staff and threatening residents with violence and damaging property.

On the 9th April 2008, Mr Taylor was served with an injunction preventing him from entering Bruce Glasier Terrace and William Morris Terrace pending a full court hearing which took place on the 4th August 2008.

Mr Taylor has now been served with a further injunction which excludes him from these streets until 4th August 2009 and also prevents him from threatening or intimidating residents or staff.  The injunction also includes a power of arrest.  This means that if a breach is suspected Mr Taylor can be arrested and brought before a judge.  A breach of an injunction could lead to a period of imprisonment.

Paul Tanney, EDH Chief Executive said: “We have taken out a number of injunctions to protect members of the community. This action underlines how seriously we view threats towards staff and residents.  We will not tolerate threats or abusive behaviour towards staff trying to carry out their duties and will take action to prevent it.”

He added: “Mr Taylor is now excluded from parts of William Morris Terrace and Bruce Glazier Terrace; if anyone sees him in this vicinity they should notify the local police’.
