Litter Pick at Cotsford Junior School
Pupils from years 3 and 4 at Cotsford Junior School in Horden took part in a litter pick to clear rubbish from their school grounds and surrounding area.
This was the first litter pick arranged by East Durham Homes Customer Involvement Team at Cotsford Junior School. The litter pick is designed to make children aware of how they can help keep the area they live in clean and tidy by not dropping litter. Prior to the litter pick staff from East Durham Homes gave a presentation to the children showing before and after pictures of a previous litter pick and encouraged them to discuss the problems that litter can cause.
Carole Tilley, Customer Involvement Officer for East Durham Homes said “This was the first time we have arranged a litter pick with Cotsford Junior School. The children really enjoyed the presentation and taking part in the litter pick and were surprised at how much rubbish of all kinds was picked up. The children have been learning about the environment and recycling and the litter pick coincided nicely with this.”
East Durham Homes has carried out litter picks at a number of schools across the District of Easington to encourage children to take care of their environment.
