East Durham Homes shortlisted for national award

East Durham Homes has been shortlisted as a finalist in the NFA (National Federation of ALMOs) awards in the category of ‘Best use of Communication’.

There were 25 entries in this category and East Durham Homes are in the final 3, with the winner to be announced at an awards ceremony in July.  The nomination was for the ‘Young persons guide to housing’ booklet that was produced by our Young Persons Forum. 

The guide gives younger people information on how to apply for a home and once they have a home how to get a furniture package, how to deal with anti-social behaviour and what other support is available from East Durham Homes. 

The group met every week for 6 weeks to take photographs and create cartoon style story boards for the guide.  One member of the group Lauren Nelson, who is currently studying art at college, designed East Durham Homes own ‘superhero’ who gives information in the guide.

Rhonda Young, East Durham Homes Communications and Marketing Officer said: “The EDH Young Persons Forum put a lot of work into the guide and designed and produced it themselves.  To be recognised and shortlisted for this award is a real achievement for the group and fingers crossed for July when we find out who has won.”
