Tenancy sustainment service
We know that managing a new home can be difficult, especially if it is your first tenancy.
Our tenancy sustainment service provides support to help you solve any problems you may have and help you enjoy your new home.
What type of support do we provide?
We will:
- help you understand your tenancy agreement and how to keep to it
- help you manage your money and your rent payments
- advise you on getting your gas, electric and water supply connected, and how to pay for it
- advise you on how to look after your property
- help you deal with any anti-social behaviour
- assess whether you need extra support and put you in touch with other support agencies, if you need them
- provide a welfare-benefit advice service and help you claim any benefits.
We can also help direct you to many other support services, if needed.
Who can use the service?
The service is aimed at new customers who are under 25, but it is available to all our customers.
Is there a charge for the service?
Yes. There is a weekly charge, which is added to your rent.
Can I get help to pay for the service?
This is often possible. The council runs a housing benefit scheme. Housing benefit helps you pay your rent if you and your family have a low income or get other state benefits. If you receive housing benefit, you may also get help with paying for the tenancy sustainment service.
