Estate Assistant Sheltered Housing (Fixed Term Contract)

Grade 3: £15,725 - £16,830

Based at Peterlee

We are looking to recruit an Estate Assistant (Sheltered Housing) initially for a period of twelve months. The postholder will assist with the supervision and day-to-day management of sheltered housing schemes, enabling tenants to live as independent members of the community. The jobholder is expected to act as a scheme caretaker ensuring that the buildings are regularly checked with regard to cleanliness and health and safety issues and will liaise with residents and other agencies on issues affecting sheltered housing units.
 
Applicants should possess a good standard of numeracy and literacy and have experience in undertaking some basic routine repair and maintenance tasks.  Experience in a role working with residents in a similar environment would be an advantage.  The ability to communicate effectively and work with residents is essential.

Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer (part time 18.5 hours)

Grade 6: £21,519  -  £22,958 p.a. (pro rata)

Based at Peterlee

We are looking for a Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer to provide a comprehensive service in terms of responding to and investigating breaches in tenancy conditions, including anti social behaviour.

Duties will include investigating complaints, carrying out interviews, visits, surveillance and following cases through to possible court actions.  The role will involve ensuring that both enforcement actions are taken and that prevention  and support programmes are developed and implemented to support both the community and individuals.

Due to the nature of the work, the appointed Officer will be expected to work unsocial hours when necessary, this may include weekend working and is reflected in the salary.

You must have experience of tackling anti social behaviour.  Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in tenant and landlord relationships are an essential requirement for this exciting opportunity aimed at making a difference for the people of East Durham Homes.
