Is sheltered housing right for me

Recent changes to the Durham County Council’s allocation policy means anyone who has a support need (subject to assessment) can apply, and discretion can be applied where demand is low. People living alone or in couples are welcome to apply and because the buildings are specifically designed for the easy delivery of any relevant health, care and support services, many people move into and remain in sheltered housing without the need for moving again. All customers will have a support plan filled in when they move in so that support services can be coordinated where they are needed. Wardens work with a variety of health and social care agencies on a regular basis and customers can be advised and supported to gain the help they need.
