Engaging with young people
How we do it?
Pictured below are some of the ways we successfully engage with young people. This includes co-ordinating school litter picks, consulatation or youth forum events, anti-social behaviour awareness sessions at local schools and running annual events such as football tournaments and summer fayres:

School litter picks
During the year we try and contact a number of local schools in the East Durham area to get the children involved in litter picks with our estate management team. This helps to educate them in keeping their local neighbourhoods clean, safe and tidy.
Awareness of anti-social behaviour
Our enforcement team look at diversionary actitivies for young people to help reduce anti-social behaviour on our estates. They also raise awareness of anti-social behaviour by going into local schools to give presentations.
Consultation with young people
As well as holding youth forum events from time to time we have invited young people to attend meetings with our officers, partners and other organisation to listen to their views. This helps us to make changes to our services that will affect young people.

Annual events
In previous years we have held events for children to attend such as a Christmas and Summer Fayre. In addition for the last three years supported by Kier and the Housing Partnership we have organised football tournaments for young children to take part.
